Class Levels

Pilates with Alexis - Classes - Beginner

BEGINNERS

In these classes I guide you through basic principles and work on correct alignment. I aim to increase core strength and correct breathing and gradually introduce more challenging progressions.  This level should not be rushed, some clients prefer to stay at this level as they feel it is best for them. This class is suitable for beginners.

Pilates with Alexis - Classes - Intermediate

IMPROVER/INTERMEDIATE

These classes are for those who have attended regularly a beginner’s course for at least 6 months – they are a step up from Beginners but are still slower-paced classes. If you have a very good grasp of the basics and want to be challenged with more difficult exercises this may be for you. At this point the focus is on increasing core strength, stamina and more complex patterns of movement for those who are ready and able.  Many clients will remain at this level and feel huge benefits from regular classes. Not suitable for beginners.

Pilates with Alexis - Classes - Advanced

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED

Progressive classes are faster paced classes for those who have attended regularly for 1 year or more, feel confident with the exercises and know the limits of their own bodies. I work towards increasing stamina as well as flexibility and strength with movement becoming more flowing and dynamic, so the body becomes evenly strengthened and toned. It is essential to have a complete grasp of previous levels and know the correct use of breathing to attend this class.

ALL LEVELS

This class aims to work the entire body whilst retaining focus on control of your movement. Modified options are always available enabling you to feel energised and full of positivity. I concentrate on strengthening the body as a whole, with emphasis on core strength and on reducing stress and anxiety by increasing body awareness and improvement of breathing.

What to do next

PICK YOUR CLASS

All levels are welcome including complete beginners. I always recommend you start with the basic Beginners’ level even if you feel strong fit and healthy. It is important to master the basics of the technique before progressing to higher level workouts. Class Levels.

WHAT YOU NEED FOR A CLASS
  • To be a Zoom subscriber – Zoom Signup
  • Enough space for your mat or a thick towel
  • Access to a bit of wall space.
  • Optional additional equipment: stretch band or hand and bath towel, arm weights (tin cans or small water bottles with water work as well!), a couple of tennis balls and a couple of small cushions or a pillow.

  • Wear anything that you feel comfortable working out in, either with socks if they have grip panels on the sole to stop you slipping, or barefoot. Most people wear leggings or long shorts and a comfortable top.

Prior to starting classes with me you will need to complete a Pilates Health Questionnaire, which you should include when you book your first class. This is so I can assess your experience of Pilates, fitness level, check your medical history and determine your aims and objectives.
